After the Soviet invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, we all witnessed world news coverage that showed the plight of families being separated. Women & children evacuated on trains and busses and the men stayed behind to fight the invaders. In honor and support of those brave souls who have fought for their freedom.
Music, lyrics, keyboards, vocals - Paul Anderson; Guitars - Jerry Kimbrough; Bass - Duncan Mullins; Drums - John Hammond; Piano - Jason Webb; Nashville Recording Orchestra: Violin - David Angell, Cello - Carole Rabinowitz; strings recorded at Littlebig Studio, Nashville, TN, Taylor Pollert, recording engineer; mastered by Alex Wharton, Abbey Road Studios, London UK

Lyrics

Been Here Before – KYIV 2022
© Copyright 2022 Paul Anderson, Also Paul Publishing

The darkness has come wrapped in lies once again
The silence like unanswered prayer
My mind wants to run, it’s all too familiar
My heart says stay and prepare

I reach past your tears, and look in your eyes
And hope I will see you again
Take hold of my hand, I long just to touch you
Afraid this moment will end

We’ve been here before, thirty years ago, now.
Our souls cry out a melody of pain
Yet, we endure to rise against denial
And reassure our will to fight remains

Now we must part to protect one another
Our voices cry out once again
Our hearts will survive for nothing else matters
But cannot know where or when

I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again
My love will be waiting forever
Whatever transpires, it’s hard to imagine
When this condition will end

(The Resilience – spoken)
To the bravest and the finest left to fight annihilation
Oppose obliteration! Do not fail an obligation
To honor the fallen, provide for the lost,
Remember the toll of the legacies lost

Defend our family give shelter to the refugees
Preserve the honor of survivors and their bravery
We’ll be victorious by the freedom that they lack
‘Cuz the man behind the curtain must retreat

We’ve been here before, thirty years ago, now
Voices cry out this melody of pain
We must believe and stand against denial
For what it cost will never be in vain

When the man behind the curtain is defeated – and we take it all back (і ми заберемо все назад)
